Gaines Soft Water started in 1989 treating hard water for families in San Antonio. The limestone under this part of Texas has not changed since, and neither has the fundamental job: find out what is in somebody’s water, size the right system for it, install it properly, and look after it afterwards.
What has changed is the region. As the Hill Country has grown, more and more of our work has moved out to properties on private wells, where the water arrives with nothing removed and the problems are considerably more varied than hardness alone. That became our specialism because it had to.
We are still family-owned, still locally operated, and still on the same phone number. A fair number of the customers we installed for in the nineties are on their second or third system with us now, which is the only credential in this industry that cannot be bought.

Nobody should be sold a water system before somebody has measured the water. Two houses on the same road can need completely different equipment, and the only way to know is to test.
